Join Tinkering School Chicago as we build big!
In the Big Build class the project may be a surprise, but you can rest assured it will be big, innovative, and of epic proportions. We will hammer, saw, and drill our way through a bunch of real problems using real tools in a failure positive environment. We encourage children to take risks, dream big, and play in the face of adversity!
In the Chain Reaction Machine class we will build a Rube Goldberg-inspired contraption on a large scale. We will supply an array of unique building materials, and the children will bring their imaginations, inventiveness, and some lunch. While working on this open-ended building project we will have fun exploring physics and have a chance to work as a team to create something truly spectacular.

171531 - Skokie Lagoons Habitat Restoration Project
Join the Winnetka Park District, BackYard Nature Center and the Cook County Forest Preserve Steward for a morning of service and habitat restoration in the Skokie Lagoons! 4th graders and older will have the opportunity to use saws and loppers to remove invasive buckthorn trees. Younger children can beautify the lagoons by collecting trash with their parents.
Afterwards, participants are welcome to bring s’mores, hot dogs or other food for roasting over the brush pile fire.
Tools and gloves will be provided. We will meet near the corner of Tower Road and Forestway Drive under the BackYard Nature Center Banner.
Please Note: All minors must have an adult present to sign a waiver for the Cook County Forest Preserve.
